Just wanted to share some photo's of a day trip we took with Rhonda and Wyatt while they were here visiting from Oregon. We decided to go to Captain Ron's Gator Park in Uncertain, Texas. First, we took a train ride around the park a couple of times. And when I say park, I really mean Captain Ron's backyard, because that's what it was. It doesn't seem like the State of Texas has any regulations about people putting a bunch of animals in their backyard, calling it a park, and charging admission.
Our train traveled past the pen of a funny looking alpaca with the cutest under bite, who ran along the fence as we went by. So, of course he's the first animal I wanted to get up close and personal with. He was a feisty little fellow and would nip you, given half a chance. That's why in one of the photos Rhonda is holding her boobs; he got a little too close for comfort. During this visit I noticed that the water in the pen was stagnant and green with algae and felt compelled to tell Captain Ron, who wasn't exactly open to my suggestion of giving the animals some fresh water (he proceeded to tell me that it was fresh this morning, which I found highly unlikely).
From then on I was checking the water of every pen. There were some other miniature goats in another pen (a male and two females) and one of the females had a three day old baby. The sad story here is that the baby had a twin that died because somehow it got out of its pen and into the pigpen next door (don't know how that could happen). Anyway, Laurie fell in love with this little baby and wanted to take it home (we all did), it was so precious. And it had the prettiest blue eyes (as did the male and two females).
There were these two lemur like animals (I forgot the name of them) and they were in a pen that was much too small (they were frantically pacing back and forth) and it was just littered with empty cat food cans. I felt so sorry for them. But not as sorry as when I went around the corner to a rabbit pen with a mama and litter of babies who were completely out of water. The mama rabbit was actually trying to get a drink and couldn't. I immediately called Captain Ron over to get them some water, which he did.
Needless to say, I was glad to leave this place; and I'm sure Captain Ron was glad to see me leave.
