Hello from Medicine Lodge, Kansas

Greetings Friends and Family

Well, we left El Reno, Oklahoma this morning around 11:20, after much hemming and hawing. The weather forecast was calling for rain and hail, besides the tornado watch, so we just decided to go on a wing and a prayer. The weather was good and we didn't encounter any rain. Unfortunately, we didn't get to stop at the Great Salt Plains and dig for crystals, it was just too darn cold and windy.

So, we're driving through Enid, Oklahoma and Laurie asks, "Are we in Enid?" I say, "Yes, didn't you see the cowboy sign?" "Oh no", she says, "I wanted to get a picture with 'Enid' on it." Mind you, she's leading, I'm following, so I say, "Okay, tell me if you see a sign and I'll take a quick picture of it." Then we drive by another sign, 'Enid City Park'. Well, I think to myself, I'd better take matters into my own hands (because I didn't know how big Enid was) and I didn't want to get through town without a picture (and I know Laurie sure isn't going to turn around to get a picture). Suddenly, I see this sign and a perfect spot to pull over, so I quickly say into my radio/walkie talkie, "I'm pulling over," and I pull into this parking lot. I hear Laurie say, "What!?" And I reply, "I pulled over to take a picture." Meanwhile, Laurie's screaming into the radio, "!@#$ %^&* Wendy!" Then a male voice comes on the radio/walkie talkie and says, "Oh, come on, just let Wendy take the picture." So, Laurie got her picture of 'Enid Trails'.

We are spending the night in Medicine Lodge, Kansas at the city park because they have free electrical hookups (apparently many of the city parks in Kansas do). Laurie was mad because they only had 50 amps and our rigs are 30 amps. It's funny how that was my fault, too, when she was supposed to buy a converter when she outfitted her rig (my rig came with a converter). But here's the happy ending to that story: Laurie walked to the hardware store and they didn't have one so she went to the Napa store but they didn't have one in stock but said they could order it. The man working the counter said he would sell her his and order another one, but he had to go home and get it. So, Laurie walked back with a converter in hand. Gotta love small town customer service and hospitality!
